Popular Peanut Butter company, Skippy, announces a voluntary recall for almost 10,000 cases due to serious health risks. Food Company Skippy Foods, LLC, recalls several Peanut Butter products due to packaging potentially containing small fragments of stainless steel. The products manufactured in Little Rock, Arkansas include 14 oz Creamy Peanut Butter Blended with Plant Protein, 16.3 oz Reduced Fat Chunky Peanut Butter, and Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter in sizes 40 oz and 2/40 oz. Pieces of stainless steel from manufacturing equipment may be found in the food becoming a concern for the health of consumers. Swallowing metal can puncture the thin walls in our esophagus causing bleeding or infection. At this point, no one has reported injuries or concerns related to Skippy Foods. No other sizes or varieties are included in this recall. This class II recall announced on March 30, 2022, urges consumers to return the above Skippy Foods products to local retailers for a full refund. Universal Security Instruments announces a recall of Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Universal Security Instruments, or USI of Owings Mills, Maryland, has stopped the selling and production of about 8,000 2-in-1 Photoelectric Smoke & Fire + Carbon Monoxide Alarms. Manufactured in China, the selection of essential safety instruments functions is at risk of failure. The select alarm systems can fail to alert customers of the hazardous levels of Carbon Monoxide in their homes. This colorless, odorless gas is highly poisonous and poses a major hazard. Currently, there have been 2 reports of alarms not responding with high levels of Carbon Monoxide present. No injuries have been reported. Nationwide distributors and online sellers offered the recalled alarms from June 2017 through December 2019 pricing between $50 and $80. Universal Security Instruments advises consumers to immediately contact the company for a free replacement alarm. Customers may also return to retailers for a replacement. Maped Helix USA Recalls Lockable Drug Chest due to mechanical failure. The U.S company based in Bloomingdale, Illinois, recalls it’s Helix Metal Lockable Drug Chest as the locking mechanism may not be functioning properly. This can result in access to the content inside the box, posing a risk of poisoning if medications are present. While 7,700 units have been identified as unsafe with two reports of mechanism failure, no injuries have been reported. The white rectangular security chest is used to store medications and other medical supplies with dimensions of 8 in X 13 in. The faulty locking arm located on the left of the box is the initial reason for the recall. The lockable drug chest was sold across the U.S, in stores at Educators Resource, Court Street Office Supplies, and available online at amazon.com, from January 2021 through December 2021 for $65 USD.
