What is TDIU?

What is TDIU? So first of all, in order to understand what total disability is under the veteran system, you need to understand that the system is a rating system. So different than social security. So in social security, it’s all or nothing. So in order to get social security disability benefits, you have to be completely disabled, incapable of any form of gainful employment. Whereas in order to collect benefits under the Veterans Administration and get a rating, you can be have a rating as minimal as 10% have a full-time job. So the question is based on your injuries, right, and your service connection showing that your injuries, your disabling condition is connected to obviously your time in the service. We need to build that rating up. And the goal is obviously to get everyone to TDIU, which is total disability or 100%. So that’s really what TDIU is. It means you’ve reached that 100% status and we’ve service connected it.
