ROB LEVINE, MENTORING & LIFE LESSONS

OVERCOMING ADVERSITY AND WORKING TO BE THE BEST VERSION OF OURSELVES

READING WEEK —THE HATCHET

Mentoring and investing in the lives of our youth are so important to me. I was honored to have participated in Reading Week at the Emma G. Whiteknact school, where I was able to choose a book for the students to read and reflect on how it can apply to their lives. During my time together with the students of this 5th-grade class, we discussed the mile-high view of the book, The Hatchet. Our conversation stemmed from the survival story of the book’s main character, 13-year old Brian Robeson, and his struggles and adversity–and how a positive mind-set and wanting for ourselves to work to achieve to be the best version of our individual self. I look forward to the opportunity to come back together with the class after they have finished the book and assignments to discuss their perspective and takeaways from the book.
