Can You Work While on Workers’ Compensation in Massachusetts & Rhode Island?

So you’re out of work, you’ve been injured, and you’re collecting workers’ compensation. The question often comes up is, can I still work while on workers’ compensation? And the general answer is yes. But the thing to remember is you have to report any income that you receive while receiving workers’ compensation benefits. So you want to have a clear conversation with your doctor who’s going to set what your work restrictions are. Can I return to work part-time? Can I return to work full time? What are my restrictions that are keeping me out of work? And based on that information, you want to share that with your lawyer who can then make sure that we cover you if you’re going to be getting any income whatsoever while receiving workers’ compensation.
