Get to Know Attorney Derrin Almada at Rob Levine Law

I attended college at the University of Rhode Island, and it was 2009. The market was not very well-receiving to new college graduates, so I decided that a career in law was probably the best thing for me. So I took the law school entrance exam test, scored high enough, and luckily was able to be accepted into Suffolk University Law School. I’m a pre-litigation attorney here at Rob Levine’s and I’ve been employed since June of 2014. I work in the personal injury division, handling car accidents, dog bites, slip and falls, and other injury claims. Part of our job is to advocate for our clients and be their voice. A lot of clients don’t understand that they need to have the treatment to see the doctors so that the insurance companies will give their case the appropriate value. Because if you don’t have the surgery or go through all the follow-up procedures, when it comes time to settle the case, our clients can be in a very tough position proving their injuries. If it’s not documented in the medical records, it’s like it never happened. That’s exactly how insurance companies often think. So part of my job, and what I really find rewarding, is helping clients get the treatment they need: MRIs, tests, consultations with surgeons, and making sure they’re not afraid to ask for and get what they truly need.
