Questions to Ask a Lawyer During a Consultation

Some important things to do to prepare for a consultation with a personal injury attorney is have everything prepared in order to explain what happened in your case. So if it just happened yesterday, you want to have the other person that you were in the accident with, or if there are several defendants or other vehicles involved, you want to have as much information on those vehicles as possible if the police report is not ready yet. Additionally, if it’s beyond maybe a couple of days, you’d want to have the police report any claim numbers from your insurance company or other insurance company that were involved in the accident and any medical information. So if you’ve gone to the hospital, whether it was by ambulance or you took yourself, you want to make sure you know what ambulance you went in. Sometimes there’s confusion and you’re a little stressed out after the accident, so you don’t know exactly what happened. Was I in Providence? Was I in North Providence? Was I in Cranston? What responded? Was it the fire department in that town? Sometimes we have fire departments that help other towns when they’re busy. So who transported you to the hospital? Was there additional treatment after that or what did they recommend? So did they say you should follow up with an orthopedic or just your primary care doctor? That’s very helpful for us to make sure that you get the right treatment and we start your case on the right foot. Any pictures also are very helpful. Some cards get totaled immediately. Insurance companies take them quickly. Sometimes you can’t tell how much damage your car received because maybe you have a bigger vehicle. So say you’re driving a truck, but you got hit by a smaller car that is demolished you’re still going to have pretty big injuries with that impact, even though your vehicle may not show the damage. So having pictures from the scene is very beneficial to us. And there’s no cost to do to evaluate your claims. Sometimes you don’t know if you have a case or not. We can walk you through the steps to figure out if you do have a case. So call us. You can fill out a form. You can chat with us online. We’re here 24-7 to answer any questions for you and help you with your claim.
