What If My Disability Isn’t On The SSA’s List of Impairments?

Social Security has developed listings which address various medical conditions. The intent of the listings is to call out the most serious symptoms associated with those conditions and make it easier for somebody to be approved for disability benefits because they don’t even take into account whether or not you can work. Just by meeting the listing, you’re approved for benefits. There are medical conditions that are not part of the listings, and you don’t have to have a medical condition that’s a listing. Social Security will approve you even if your medical condition doesn’t satisfy the listings.
