So, you’ve been injured at work and you’re in Springfield, Massachusetts. What do you do?
So, the most important thing that you do immediately is report the injury. You want to tell your employer exactly what happened and you want to document it because that creates the record for the future if there’s ever a question as to whether you were working, where you were, it’s on record and no one’s ever going to question it. If you’re a delivery driver, obviously, and you get into a car accident, you want to make sure you get a police report. If you’re delivering somewhere that’s not at your business location and you’re somewhere else, wherever you are, you want to document with the company of where you’re at when the injury occurs.
So, if you have a slip and fall case, walking into someone else’s building while you’re delivering food, you’re delivering to Stop and Shop, as an example, and you have a fall there. You want to document it with their management team. You want to make sure that you document everything with everyone. You want to figure out who the witnesses are. You want to get a copy of the documentation. Those are the most important things. Of course, the next most important thing is to get treatment. You want to immediately go to either the emergency room or the urgent care or whatever it is that you need so that you can document injuries at the time that it occurred. And the third thing you want to do is obviously contact my office so we can start getting the documentation. Make sure that we’re covering you, backing you up, and making sure everything that legally has to be done is done and that we take care of you and help you win your case.
