So you got rear-ended and you’re wondering, who’s at fault? Well, somebody actually asked me that question. And at first I kind of laughed and then I thought, I guess it’s a pretty serious question because not everybody necessarily knows the law. And the reality is when you stop your vehicle, there has to be a safe following distance between you and the vehicle behind you. They’re responsible for maintaining a safe following distance. I actually had a case once where my client was driving along and they got rear ended and the other driver said, Oh no, they stopped their car and started to back up and backed up into me. How ridiculous is that? So you never know what’s going to happen. Just like if you’re driving along and a kid darts out in the road or an animal darts out in the road, you’re going to hit the brakes. So the other driver is responsible to maintain a safe following distance no matter what happens with your vehicle. Because we never know when you’re going to stop or when you’re going to slow down. So they’re ultimately always responsible for maintaining a safe following distance. But in any accident, make sure you call us and we’re going to take care of you and make sure you win.
