What To Do if You’re a Passenger in a Rideshare Vehicle Involved in an Accident

Remember, if you’re in a rideshare and your vehicle gets in an accident, whether it causes the accident or another driver causes the accident, you’re a passenger and you’re a passenger in a commercial vehicle. You’re always going to win. The question is, is it documented properly and do we have all the information that we need? So number one, we want to prove that you are in the rideshare vehicle and at the time it’s activated, meaning he’s put in the computer that he’s picked you up. And the reason that’s important is because it triggers different limits of liability for insurance. While that driver might only have $25,000 in coverage, when he is on his way to pick you up, it increases the coverage. Once you’re in the vehicle, it increases the coverage as well. There might be as much as a million dollars in coverage, even though his personal policy only has $25,000. So screenshot your rideshare app to document that you were in the car and that you were picked up. If you didn’t order the rideshare, have your friend or whoever ordered it for you screenshot it. Stay and wait for the police to come. Make sure the police document that you’re in a rideshare vehicle and they document that you are a passenger. In addition to that, don’t talk to the insurance company. Don’t give anyone else information. Make sure that you call us and let us help you through the process.
