Attorney, entrepreneur, and Roger Williams University School of Law alumnus Rob Levine recently returned to his alma mater to speak with law students about leadership, professional growth, and the evolving nature of the legal profession.
Back Where It Started: The Journey That Shaped His Career
Rob, founder of the Rob Levine Law firm and principal of multiple legal and business ventures, addressed students in an interactive discussion that drew from his unconventional career path. From his beginnings as an EMT and Army Reservist to police officer, attorney, business owner, and mentor to law firm leaders across the country, his career path was anything but linear.
A 1999 graduate of Roger Williams University School of Law, Rob reflected on his roots in Rhode Island and the experiences that helped shape both his career and leadership philosophy. Throughout the discussion, he emphasized the importance of authenticity, resilience, mentorship, and building a career aligned with personal values.
Returning to Roger Williams holds meaning for him because the school is where his legal journey really began. He has been fortunate to build businesses and work with incredible people over the years, but being able to come back and share experiences with students preparing to enter the profession is something he genuinely values.
Lessons Shared With the Next Generation of Attorneys
Rob’s visit highlighted the broader role experienced professionals can play in mentoring future generations of attorneys. In addition to discussing career development and leadership, he encouraged students to remain adaptable, invest in relationships, and focus on becoming not only skilled professionals, but good people.
Rob shared lessons learned throughout his career building and scaling businesses, managing large teams, and navigating change within the legal industry. His remarks focused less on traditional definitions of success and more on the importance of culture, personal growth, and long-term impact.
Faculty and students engaged with him throughout the session, asking questions about leadership, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and the realities of building a legal career.
Giving Back to the Communities That Shape Future Leaders
Rob Levine currently oversees multiple companies spanning legal services and medical record retrieval, with operations throughout the United States and internationally. He is actively involved in mentoring law firm owners and business leaders through educational and leadership initiatives. Additionally, his firm is prominently involved in the local community, offering events such as weekly gift card giveaways, free Uber rides on major holidays, and family-friendly initiatives such as back-to-school backpack giveaways and turkey dinner donations at Thanksgiving.
His return to Roger Williams University School of Law served as both a professional milestone and a reminder of the importance of giving back to the communities and institutions that help shape future leaders.
