Emon Smith is a Veterans Disability Attorney licensed to practice law in North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Law in 2018. In law school, Emon began her work in the veterans’ field as a student practitioner in the Military and Veterans Law clinic, where she assisted veterans with discharge upgrades. Months after graduating from law school, she began working at a North Carolina nonprofit legal services organization, where she became the Director of its Veterans Legal Services Unit. There, she assisted veterans and their families with nearly all VA claims as well as discharge upgrades. Following this venture, she worked for the Virginia state government, where she furthered her veterans’ work handling VA appeals.
With over seven years of experience in veterans’ law, Emon has helped many veterans and their survivors navigate the complex VA system and discharge upgrade process, leading to successful outcomes. As far back as her great-great-grandfather, who was a World War II veteran, Emon has several family members who are military veterans, including her late father. Her familial connection to the work fuels her passion.
Outside of work, Emon enjoys spending time with her family, including her two dogs, Kash and Ace. She also enjoys reading, trying new recipes, and being near the water.
