Does New Hampshire Require Auto Insurance?

So, when you’re in an auto accident and someone else is at fault, you automatically assume that the person who hit you is going to have insurance and they’re going to cover you. And that’s correct in almost every state. In New Hampshire, automotive insurance is not required. Now, most drivers in New Hampshire have automotive insurance, but the law doesn’t require it. So that means you can literally be operating your vehicle with no coverage to protect someone else if you hit them. Which is why you want to make sure you always have uninsured motorist coverage and underinsured motors coverage. Uninsured motorists coverage means if another drive you hits driver hits you and they have no insurance, your insurance is going to cover you. Or if their policy isn’t enough, you’re underinsured means it will sit on top of their coverage and pay the difference. So, always get uninsured and underinsured and watch out for who hits you in New Hampshire.
