Rhode Island is Cracking Down on Drunk Driving
Drunk driving fatalities represented 36.9 % of all total traffic deaths this past year, which is a 14.3 % decrease from 2013. So far this year Rhode Island State Police have arrested 458 people for driving under the influence, including 58 people in the month of October alone.
In efforts to alleviate the drunk driving issue in Rhode Island, state police and police departments across Rhode Island have collaborated on increased enforcement for the holidays. Despite the forewarnings about stepped up law enforcement and the implementation of impaired driving laws, 13 people were arrested for drunk driving by the Rhode Island State Police over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
The Rhode Island State Police Superintendent announced that law enforcement will continue to vigorously enforce motor vehicle laws in order to make highways safer for all travelers.

The app works with participating taxi companies in the area. All the user needs to do is present the certificate from their phone to the taxi driver when they arrive. The app is available in the iTunes and Android stores.
