If you’re involved in a car accident in one state and you live in another, so for instance, in Connecticut and you live in Rhode Island, uh the key is that you really need a lawyer who’s licensed in Connecticut. So, if you hire a lawyer who’s just a single sole practitioner and he’s only licensed in Rhode Island, he wouldn’t be able to help you because you really want someone who’s licensed in that state because to take it to court, you have to be licensed. So, the question is where you live, where the defendant lives, where it happened, the amount involved if it’s over $75,000. But most personal injury cases are handled in state court. So that’s really the key is where did it happen and that’s where you’re going to pursue it.
