So, what to do if you’ve been involved in a Boston car accident? Let’s just say it just happened. Bam! I was rear-ended. The first thing you want to do is dial 911. You want the police to come to the scene, you want everything documented, and you don’t want to move your vehicles until the police get there. Secondly, if you’re able to get out of your car, you want to take pictures. You want to take pictures of the actual scene itself. You want to take pictures of where the vehicles are located. You want to take pictures of the defendant’s car. Take pictures of your car and show everything as it is. If you’re injured, don’t get out of the car. Make sure that a rescue is coming and let the rescue take you to the hospital. So that’s really the immediacy of what you do immediately after the accident. That’s important, right? We want to make sure that the police document everything. If there’s witnesses, get the witnesses information because oftentimes we see that the witnesses end up leaving before the police come, especially in a busy city like Boston. The police might take a little while to get there. The witnesses get tired of waiting and they leave. So ask the witness for their information. Maybe take a picture of their driver’s license and document that they were there. That way you can give that information to the police officer and it makes it into the report. You always want to capture the witness information. What do you do next? You call my law firm. Why? Because we need to begin the investigation and we need to be able to prove that the other driver, the defendant, was at fault for your claim. And that way we make sure you win.
