So, if you have a slip and fall in a public place, it’s similar to having a car accident, right? Because you need to have it documented. And the only way to really document a public place is to have the police respond. So, you should dial 911. You obviously want a rescue because assuming you’re injured, you want a rescue to respond. And you want the police to respond because you want them to be able to document what it is in that public nature that caused you to fall. Is there a hole in the ground? Is there a a big change in level of the sidewalk? Is the tree route uprooted? Like what caused your injuries has to be documented and the best way to document is on the scene. If you’re able to take pictures from the position that you’re at, take pictures of the scene. If there’s witnesses present, you want to make sure you get their information.
People tend to leave quickly, so take a picture of their ID so you have it and you can always follow up with them along with a phone number. Really important to document.
