Hi, I’m attorney Rob Levine. So, not having a great day? You got into an accident and you’re driving your friend’s car. Sorry to hear that. The question that I get is, “Am I responsible? Is my friend responsible? Who’s going to pay for the other person’s damages?” Well, if you’re in a vehicle that’s insured by someone else and you get in an accident and there’s permissive use, meaning you had permission to drive that car, it’s not stolen, you didn’t take it without permission, then the insurance company, the vehicle for the vehicle you’re in is most likely going to pay for the damages and injuries to other people. Could someone sue you? Yes, they could. But most likely the insurance company for the car you’re in is going to pick up the lawsuit and defend you. Thanks for stopping by.
